LUTHERAN SCHOOL 3-BALL SHOOTOUT
Congratulations on being selected to compete in the 2008 LSA Wisconsin Tournament of Champions. Along with the basketball tournament that you are looking forward to being a part of, your school can compete in a unique 3-point shooting contest. The winning school will share in some great food provided by our sponsors Cedar Crest Ice Cream and Cousin’s Subs.
- Competition is open to one team from each school represented in the LSA Wisconsin Tournament of Champions.
- Each team must consist of three shooters – a boy enrolled at the school, a girl enrolled at the school, and a professional church worker (teacher, principal, pastor, DCE, deacon,…) from the school or church affiliated with the school. Each school is responsible for selecting their three competitors.
- Each round of competition will give each team 60 seconds (20 seconds for each competitor) to make as many 3 point shots as they can. A horn sounds at each 20-second interval to signal the next shooter’s turn. Teams can choose any order for the three shooters and must rebound for one another.
- The first round will be open competition with two teams shooting at a time against the rest of the field. The highest scoring teams* will qualify to compete in the remaining rounds of head-to-head competition.
- The semi-final round will consist of 90 seconds of head-to-head competition between paired teams with winners advancing.
- The two final teams will compete in the shootout finals with 90 seconds of head-to-head competition.
*Tie scores in any round will be decided by sudden death shootouts in which competitors from each team alternate shots. Teams are eliminated from the tiebreaker if their shooter misses their shot and another team makes their alternating shot.
Teams will have a rack of both girl’s balls and boy’s balls available for their shootout time.
All competitors will be provided a 3-Ball Shootout T-shirt to wear for the competition. Shirts will be handed out with team registration information on the opening day of the tournament.
The Lutheran School 3-Ball Shootout will take place on Saturday, March 8 on the CUW main court during the break between the second and third round of the tournament (about 1:30).
